ZINE SPECS
.The zine will be formatted as digest sizing and available for purchase in both a digital and physical format with physical merch.
- 2475 x 1650 pixels at 300 DPI
- CMYK color profileArtist expectations:
You are expected to create one (1) fully rendered piece or the equivalent in your artstyle with a background or design layout (exceptions are made for comic format). Depending on the arc you are depicting, you will likely be expected to draw more than one character in the same piece. There is a lot of room for leniency in what a complete drawing means to you. For reference, we’ve attached a folder of some of the mods' own work that would be accepted as a zine piece here.Writer expectations:
You are expected to create one (1) finished piece of a maximum of 2k words. Short stories/poems are allowed. For short stories the minimum word count is 1.5k words, which we are willing to be flexible about, poems are free form. Essay submissions follow the short story word maximum.Merch artist expectations:
As a merch artist you will be expected work much more directly with the mod team regarding everything about your pieces, this is both because we may have very specific ideas regarding pieces we want as merch for promotional reasons, but also because of the production requirements and file specifics for certain merch types such as acrylic charms and stickers. That is not to say you won’t have any degree of creative freedom, just that it’ll be a more in depth discussion between you and the mods and your pieces may be subject to more critique and suggestions than you may expect in comparison to page contributors. Certain merch pieces may require an accelerated timeline and we may request WIPs at earlier stages than other contributors. Please note that before signing up and think about your schedule ahead of time!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is this a for-profit, charity, or free zine?
This is a charity zine raising funds for both the PCRF and SAPA. For more information on each of these organizations, click their respective links. Will contributors receive compensation?
Due to this being a charity zine, and the size of the fandom, we cannot guarantee contributor copies. However, we will try to assure that contributors get production rate prices for their copies at the very least. How many contributors are you looking for? How many for each season depicted?
We’re looking for around 35 contributors, this number however is not set in stone. Because of the results of the interest check, we plan to assign more contributions to seasons 3-5, contributors will not be equally split among seasons. What will you be looking for in each contributor?
You can read the expectations for each contributor in zine specs. What types of content will be in the zine? Will AU content be allowed?
The zine will be following canon events of the lifesteal smp, there is a lot of freedom in how that content is depicted and we will be allowing metaphorical depictions and similar concepts, however AU content will not be accepted. All content will be SFW and any gore will be limited to light blood. Comics are allowed so long as they do not take up more than 2 pages, however if need be we will limit the number of entries that are in comic format or make exceptions. Will collabs between contributors be allowed?
Yes, collabs between contributors are allowed and encouraged, we only ask that you limit it to 2 people per collab. If you have an idea that would require multiple people, please run it by the mod team. A collab will count as one piece for the zine, unless the scope of it exceeds that level, which means you may do a 2nd piece if you are doing a collab, though we ask you prioritize one piece to make sure something is submitted on time. Will this zine accept traditional art?
Yes! traditional art will be accepted, given that the artist can provide a high quality, clear scan of their artwork. Please include examples of traditional art in your application if you plan on doing traditional art.

Hi Hii!!! I've always had an interest in taking on bigger and more expansive fan projects, and with my interest in merch production having been sparked recently, this seemed like a no brainer. Lifesteal has inspired.... quite an absurd amount of fanart from me.

The seriema. Enthusiastic art enjoyer and serial zine joiner. Lifesteal gave me back my ability to color drawings, and for that I'll be forever grateful. Season 4 was cool too I guess. My relevant experience includes previous graphic and finance modding for a digital zine and around +14 zines as a contributor, such as "Embark: a HxH Zine" and the One Piece Tarot Project.

Haunted by the ghosts of zines past and spelling mistakes I didn't catch before, I've returned to zines with a vengeance. Lifesteal streams have stolen countless hours of my well earned sleep, but there's nothing like sleep deprivation to bring one back to their creative pursuits! So here I am. Help. HELP-
